PräziEdge is a book edge printer that prints filigree and subtle patterns, motifs in high detail, a simple colour cut or even graphics and photos surrounding the book block with a captivating 3D effect on the book edge.It is suitable for both single runs and series. While the entire process is fully automatic, only the adjustment of the book thickness and the insertion and removal of the copies are done manually. Due to borderless colour or motif cuts, overlapping printing is required to avoid white flashes. Instead of inserting cardboard between the individual book blocks, special scrapers are used to collect overprinting ink. Such boards are only used for book blocks with a strongly rising spine. The system also handles books with rounded corners and even prints bindings with dispersion adhesive. PräziEdge uses Memjet technology with water-based ink in CMYK tanks of 2 litres each. The print resolution is 1600 x 800 dpi or 1600 x 1600 dpi. In total, up to 3000 prints per hour with 1600 x 800 dpi print resolution can be realised. With the printing system, not only printing on book edges is possible. Absorbent materials such as wood, stone, fabric and cardboard can also be printed effortlessly.
Process
- The print data is transferred via an external notebook (not included in the scope of delivery) to the machine, where it is edited and processed via a touchscreen display with the internal software.
- The adjustment of the book thickness as well as the creation and removal of the copies is done manually, while the entire printing process is fully automatic.
- The books run on a height-adjustable table between two conveyor belts under an inkjet printer. The print head is fixed. For overlapping motifs, there is a scraper that collects overprinting ink. Cardboard therefore no longer has to be added as before. The time saving is considerable.

Advantages
For perfect results, an integrated hoover automatically removes impurities that could be caused by dust before printing. The print head is stationary during printing because the PräziEdge uses Memjet technology to print the book cut. This makes printing much faster. With the Memjet technology, around 3000 prints per hour can be realised. The flexible transport system also makes it possible to effortlessly print on absorbent materials such as wood, stone, fabric and cardboard.
At the same time, it is possible to print with a high print quality of up to 1600 dpi, making filigree and subtle patterns and motifs possible in a realistic 3D effect on the book cover. The only manual operations required during the printing process are the adjustment of the book thickness and the positioning and removal of the printed books.
