Schmedt's Englsih Buckram—gold standard of book rebinding
Schmedt's acrylic-impregnated English Buckram is virtually indestructible under normal use. It resists water and stains. Glue can be wiped off the outer surface without leaving a trace. Edges do not fray or ravel, even when rubbed for cleaning. English Buckram does not stretch or warp when PVA glue is applied. Card stock and boards can be bonded to the inner surface easily with the cheapest white PVA glue. Spine and face labels can be glued to the outer surface with cheapest PVA glue by applying pressure (I use a concrete construction block that weighs 7.5 kilos). Neither glue nor ink seep through from inner to outer surface, nor from outer to inner surface. Glossy silk finish blends well with laminated surfaces of books that need repair.
In my library book repair service, I have now completely replaced paper-backed cotton binding cloth with Schmedt's English Buckram.

Hochwertig
Farbe ist genau wie abgebildet (schwarzgrün), das fertige Buch sieht wunderschön aus. Lässt sich wunderbar verarbeiten, ist strapazierfähig und leicht zu kleben. Verzeiht auch Anfängerfehler, bin begeistert.

Super Material
Edler Glanz, extrem hitzebeständig (kann man mit iron on beplotten) abwaschbar und unnormal robust. Ich bin begeistert.

Alternatives to EuroBuckram and Durabel
Due to the insolvency and closure of Bamberger Kaliko Werke at the end of November 2022, an important manufacturer of library cloth ceases to exist. Bamberger Kaliko produced DURA-BEL and Eurobuckram, two library cloth products manufactured in accordance with the German RAL-RG 495 quality regulations. English Buckram is an alternative that is also tested according to the quality regulations. The good news is that both fabrics from Bamberger Kaliko were made to resemble the English original, so about 80% of the colors are very similar. Below we give an overview for which color of Eurobuckram and Durabel we can deliver an almost identical color.
