When it comes to books, a clean and accurate cut is essential. High productivity and quality can only be achieved if the cutting of paper, cardboard and book cover materials works easily and reliably. For this purpose, we offer a variety of cutting machines in different sizes and designs.
Which cutting machine is suitable for which materials?
Generally speaking, if you mainly cut cardboard, then board shears are the best choice. Predominantly paper, a lever cutter / office trimmer is sufficient. Guillotines are a hybrid and can handle both paper and cardboard, although with some restrictions.
What are guillotines suitable for?
The stack cutter is the all-rounder of cutting machines. You can cut thick paper, cardboard and cardboard in addition to stacks of paper with a stack cutter. However, if you are cutting thick cardboard (2.5mm to 3.5mm), then the load on the machine is very high. Occasionally you can do it, but for permanent cutting of thick cardboard the machines are not designed. The stack height can vary from model to model. Usually 80 to 95mm.
What are lever cutters / office trimmers suitable for?
You can use it to cut paper up to 400-500g and also occasionally cardboard up to 2.5mm. With thinner paper, you can also cut several sheets at once. With cardboard, the knife suffers much more than with paper. How long knives last exactly, we can not answer. In addition, there is no indication from the manufacturer and it depends very much on the particular model as well as the cut material.
What are board shears suitable for?
Board shears cut up to 3.5mm cardboard. And also thin papers can be cut with them. The blade is much more robust than that of a lever cutter or guillotine. With board shears, the knife lasts for several years and is then usually re-sharpened (does not need to be replaced).
