PräDeka • Case-making system
for single- and multi-piece hardcover cases
Available, delivery time on request
The PräDeka system is a system for the production of book cases with varying formats and small runs and is an ideal entry-level solution for the production of hardcover books. It consists of individual desktop modules for gluing the cover material, for the exact positioning of the cover boards and the spine hollow, and for turning-in the edges and pressing of the book case. These modules are arranged on a space-saving system base for an optimised workflow. All modules are also available individually.
Process
- The gluing machine PräziCoat 400 is filled with either cold or hot glue. The pre-cut cover material is fed manually underneath the rollers and is guided from the insert rollers to the upper gluing roller. The sheet-reversing device guides the cover material in such a way that the glued side is on top.
- The glued cover material is now placed on the table of the casemaker PräDeck and, in the case of unprinted covers, centered by means of two coloured scales. Printed cover materials are aligned by means of the illuminated table and the two centering lines on the table top.
- After the cover has been aligned, the guide angle is lowered by means of a hand lever. Then the spine hollow is placed between the joint bars. By closing the joint bars, the spine is centered automatically. Now, both boards are placed manually into the guide angles and pressed down for a moment. The guide angles can then be lifted, and the case is ready to be turned-in.
- The open case is now inserted into the intake slot of the turning-in machine PräKant with its long side first. As soon as the case is pushed far enough into the machine, the turning-in process is started automatically. The case is pulled in and the first edge is turned in.
- Then the case is pulled in completely. The cover material is pressed on to the boards and the second edge is turned in.
- Then the case is ejected to the front on to the table. Now the four corners need to be tucked in manually. The case is then turned by 90° and re-inserted into the slot with its short side first, and the two remaining edges are turned in. Depending on the pre-selected programme, the finished book case is ejected either to the front or rear of the machine.
- 12 different programmes for turning-in and pressing down with different ways of ejection and 2 speeds are available to perfectly integrate the machine into the workflow.
According to product and use, the output of the PräDeka system is approx. 60 - 100 cases per hour. In combination with a second PräKant machine, the output may almost be doubled.
The components of the PräDeka system are also available as standalone machines and may be combined individually.
For the PräDeka system, an optional system base is available. This system base consists of two combined tables with bottom intermediate shelves, a shelf for pre-cut boards, cover material and a drawer. The complete system base is adjustable in height.
An optionalside table on castors serves as storage space for the gluing machine of the PräDeka system.Optionally, the PräDeka system can be equipped with the pneumatic corner cutter PräZis. It is integrated into the workflow by means of a special table adaptation.
In addition, the PräDeka system can be optionally extended with the PräVis. This automatic water supply system automatically ensures optimum viscosity of the adhesive in the gluing machine.

Advantages
Book case production with the PräDeka system is possible without set-up times and format adjustments, even with different board thicknesses. The cover boards and spine hollow are positioned at an absolute right angle. A light table with guide lines enables pre-printed covers to be aligned precisely, and wavy material can be held in position using a suction unit. The edges are turned-in and pressed in a single operation. Pressing is carried out by rollers, so there are no bubbles or creases. Different programmes are available for optimum integration into the workflow. Even rubbing down laminated or mirrored cases is possible.
